This advice note sets out the legal background to conflicts of interest for the members of the governing body of a voluntary and community organisation (committee members). It also contains appendices with a sample conflict of interest policy and a sample declaration of interest form.

This advice note is designed particularly for charitable organisations as they have specific legal obligations in this area, however it can be used by any voluntary and community organisation whether a recognised charity or not.
