How we are governed
NICVA is governed by an executive committee which is elected by its member organisations annually through a postal ballot using the single transferable vote system. On average it meets ten times per year.
The 12 elected members sit for a three year period. Each year, four members retire but can seek re-election. Any full member organisation can nominate an individual to stand for election to the executive. The executive committee can coopt up to four additional members, up to a maximum total of 16 executive committee members, to fill gaps as they see fit.
Chair
NICVA's chair is elected for a three year period. The chair is nominated by the executive. This is ratified at the AGM. The chair can serve no more than two consecutive terms. The current chair is Bob Stronge from AdviceNI.
Honorary Officers
Honorary officers are nominated by the executive and elected at the AGM.
Governing NICVA
NICVA staff are responsible to the executive committee through the chief executive. The executive ensures the good governance of the organisation by monitoring progress and setting the strategic objectives and policy direction in NICVA's three year Development Plan.
